Trying to find ways to help students understand the five regions of the United States? This lesson plan is an effective way to give the students the information they need in a manner that will get them critically thinking about what they learned.
The students will have a detailed reading on each region of the United States with a reading guide worksheet to help them synthesize what they are reading. Students will then be able to compare and contrast the regions.
Whats Included?
- 3 page reading on the regions of the United States
- Vocabulary sheet detailing 15 vocabulary words relating to United States geography
- 2 page comprehension question sheet
- Compare and contrast charts
This plan also includes a Google version. It is the same as the PDF, but uploaded into interactive google slides worksheets. The sheets have been set as the "background" (so the kids can't delete it ;) ) with fill-able text boxes.
To use google version, simply make a copy of the link I provide to YOUR drive.
I break this lesson up over 2 days with my 6th graders.
I use this lesson prior to diving into the National Park Research Project or the Human Environmental Interaction in Our National Parks to help solidify U.S. Geography.
