Description
This packet is meant to be a complete persuasive writing project for grades 3 and 4. Students are asked to write a persuasive piece on the topic of Fidget Spinners. Should they be allowed in classrooms? Are they a help to students? Or, are they a huge distraction? This can be a simple quick write, but also includes everything you need to make this an extended writing piece that goes through the entire writing process.
This is the basic timeline of lessons included in the packet:
1- Intro to task- very clear direction page included for students.
2- Researching/planning page- students read two student perspectives about their feelings on fidget spinners. Students also read an article about the pros and cons of spinners in the classroom.
3- Persuasive graphic organizer- Intro, three main points with details, as well as a conclusion.
4- Lesson on transitional words.
5- Rough draft paper.
6- Buddy edit- A simple to use rubric for students to use with one another.
7- Teacher edit
8- Final Draft- Paper included within the packet, as well as a teacher rubric.
Everything is included in this packet, in this order, but of course, you can take pieces out or put them in the order that best meets the needs of your kiddos.
