    Description

This bundle purchase is for 15+ assignment sheets focusing on Forces & Motion.

These assignments are perfect for either in-class work, homework, or extra credit. Each worksheet is designed for Grades 5th – 9th but some minor changes should make them perfect for older or younger students as needed and prove to be a valuable addition to your unit.

Included with this bundle package are the following assignments:

    1) SPEED WEBQUEST

Two separate worksheets that focus on the concept of SPEED and how it is calculated. Both sheets work perfectly as homework, extra credit, or quick classroom assignments.

*SPEED WEBQUEST - various question relating to the concept of speed for students to research on the Internet including: fastest ten Olympic 100m runners, top 10 fastest land animals, and top speeds achieved by various technology.

*SPEED PROBLEMS - a follow-up to the webquest with a variety of quick calculation problems to determine speed of Olympic runners, animals, NASCAR, and Indy. These problems are quick to solve but lend themselves to numerous classroom discussions and comparisons as you work through a unit focusing on Motion & Energy (or could be incorporated with Math classes).

    2) FORCES & MOTION ROCK CLIMBING ARTICLE PACKET

This assignment is perfect for homework when teaching a science unit on forces & energy (laws of motion) or for a language arts reading selection.

*a question sheet with 17 questions (stressing key vocabulary)

*a vocabulary wordsearch connecting to the article

The assignment is provided as MS-Word so you can modify both the article and questions as needed to fit your classroom. The wordsearch is a static image that cannot be altered.

    3) FORCES & MOTION BUNGEE JUMPING ARTICLE PACKET

This assignment is perfect for homework when teaching a science unit on forces & energy (laws of motion) or for a language arts reading selection.

    Included with this purchase are:

*a 2-page article on the extreme sport of bungee jumping

*a question sheet with 13 questions

*a 21-question crossword puzzle connecting to the article

    4) FORCES AND MOTION CRISS-CROSS HOMEWORK

This assignment is perfect for review, homework or extra credit.

The front side has a vocabulary criss-cross grid with 30 different forces and motion vocabulary terms: Isaac Newton, Third Law of Motion, Rolling Friction, GPE, Weight, Mass, Unbalanced Forces and more. Answer key is provided.

The back side tasks students with writing sentences connected to the theme and incorporating two of the terms from the criss-cross into each of their sentences. Note: This puzzle is not the same puzzle included with the quiz review packet.

    5) FORCES & MOTION VOCABULARY QUIZ PACKET

This packet includes a study guide and quiz for an introduction to a unit on Forces & Motion for grades 5-10. The focus is on 20 key terms and the quiz can easily be changed into a simple review assignment as well.

*Study Guide - includes the definitions of 20 science terms such as: inertia, friction, 1st Law of Motion, sliding friction, air resistance, and more.

*Quiz w/ Answer Key - 29-question vocabulary quiz mixes between matching, true and false, fill-in, multiple choice, and definition writing.

*Puzzle Page w/Answer Key - a wordsearch and a criss-cross using the 20 vocabulary terms.

Both study guide and quiz are provided as MS-Word documents so you can modify as needed.

ANSWER KEY FOR QUIZ AND PUZZLES IS PROVIDED.

    6) FORCES & MOTION WORDSEARCH

This assignment is perfect for review, homework or extra credit.

The front side has a wordsearch with 30 different forces and motion vocabulary terms: 1st law of motion, momentum, inertia, gravity, kinetic energy, sliding friction, acceleration, speed, and more. Answer key is provided.

The back side tasks students with writing sentences connected to the theme and incorporating two of the terms from the wordsearch into each of their sentences. This wordsearch is not the same wordsearch that is included with the vocabulary packet.

    7) FORCES & MOTION SPORTS PROJECT PACKET (ZIP)

This packet contains several assignments focusing on Newton's Laws of Motion, energy, and the types of friction. The work is perfect for a conclusion on a motion unit (or as a refresher).

*Power Point presentation (10 slides) showing how the sport of rock climbing is connected to the Laws of Motion, energy, and friction. This power point is used to get students thinking about all other sports and how they connect to the theme of motion and energy. Terms covered: 1st Law of Motion, 2nd Law of Motion, 3rd Law of Motion, Kinetic Energy, Potential Energy, Speed, Sliding Friction, Rolling Friction, and Fluid Friction.

*Power Point/Prezi Rubric for students to design their own 10-slide presentation connecting a sport of their choice to the same motion/energy themes presented in the rock climbing example.

*Webquest - an Internet assignment that has students looking for examples of the three laws of motion and the three forms of friction.

*Worksheet - a 12 picture example worksheet asking students to connect what is being shown in each picture to a law of motion and a form of friction. (great for classroom sharing because each picture has more than one explanation)

*Puzzle Sheet - a cryptogram puzzle with a message on the laws of motion and some sports connections to write about (great for homework).

*Wordsearch - a vocabulary search and sentence assignment on key sports and science concepts (great for homework).

The Power Point / Prezi assignment is the main focus of the packet and this is one that all students love because they can choose any sport/activity and connect aspects of it to the laws of motion. I have seen everything from golf, polo, and wrestling, to surfing, synchronized swimming, and paragliding. Students love making these power points / Prezis and sharing them with the class.

    8) BILL NYE VIDEO WORKSHEET - GRAVITY

This worksheet can be used to accompany the Bill Nye video GRAVITY (Season 1, Episode 6).

The worksheet has 13 questions that help students stay focused on various science facts about the force of gravity (Earth's gravity, other planets, orbits, Galileo, daily activities that gravity affects, weight, etc...). There are follow-up questions as well that students can complete on their own or through group discussions after the video.

The video needed for this assignment can be purchased as physical media (DVD) or through a variety of online streaming sites. Please be aware that many online sites change the availability of videos from month to month.

    9) BILL NYE VIDEO WORKSHEET – SIMPLE MACHINES

This worksheet can be used to accompany the Bill Nye video SIMPLE MACHINES (Season 1, Episode 10).

The worksheet has 13 questions that help students stay focused on various science facts about the simple machines (lever, pulley, screw, wheels). There are also 2 follow-up questions that students can complete on their own or through group discussions after the video.

The video needed for this assignment can be purchased as physical media (DVD) or through a variety of online streaming sites. Please be aware that many online sites change the availability of videos from month to month.

Note: This assignment is designed for 11 x 17 paper. Although the assignments does work perfectly for display on a Smartboard for classroom review/discussion.

The assignment presents students with 100 pictures of various uses of simple machines. Students are tasked with identifying which machine is depicted in each example (lever, screw, inclined plane, wedge, wheel & axle, and pulley).

This is a great assignment that will have students making connections to where simple machines are used in our day-to-day lives.

The paper is provided as both an MS-Word document (so you can adjust images and size should 11 x 17 not fit your needs) or as a PDF to keep printing simple.
