Description

The preview includes the lyrics and 1 of the handout's 8 questions, along with the answer key. The answer key provides a lot of historical insight into the song for the students, although the students generally understand the true meaning while listening to the song.

Before playing the song, give a brief background on the year of 1968 (Vietnam War and global protests) and all of the worldwide protests that were taking place.

Now play the song. This is the youtube link to hear it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrkwgTBrW78

I also have the lyrics printed out for students to follow.

The next handout is a series of questions analyzing the song's lyrics. There is an answer key. I love this activity because the students really enjoy analyzing a time period by listening to music.
