What educators are saying

My students found this to be informative and interesting. It sparked a lot of interest, and we used the information to write an opinion essay on the use of plastics. I will use this activity again.
I love this and this topic. It was great to show and talk to the students on Earth Day. I think a student then went on to choose it as their "Man Made Disasters" project.

Description

Earth Day - The Great Pacific Garbage Patch Presentation, Handout, & Assignment: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, also called the Pacific Trash Vortex, is a wide range of trash, plastic, chemical sludge, and debris floating together in a large mass in the Pacific Ocean. Use this shocking information to engage your students on Earth Day to encourage them to consider ways to help prevent this disaster from continuing to grow. With the included presentation, handout, and assignment, there will be no prep required. This makes an excellent Earth Day lesson for an English, science, or social studies class.

Included in This Earth Day Lesson:

➡️ Earth Day Great Pacific Garbage Patch Presentation Slides: Use this 14-slide PowerPoint and Google Slides presentation to teach students about The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. The Earth Day presentation includes the following information:

  • How did it happen?
  • How did it get there?
  • Plastic pollutants
  • What are the effects?
  • What is being done?
  • What can I do?

The presentation also includes a link to an interesting and informative video for students to watch (YouTube required).

What Teachers Are Saying About This Earth Day Lesson:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of my all-time favorite purchases! Amazing presentation that lead my class into doing their own research projects about saving the Earth!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It was one of my favorite lessons. The kids had no idea, and I loved seeing their reaction.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This went perfectly with our study of ocean pollution around Earth Day! My students were shocked by what they learned and were able to have great discussions about how they could make a change.
