Daily Mathematics Challenge - number of the day

This resource includes:

• content that becomes progressively harder
• content that is appropriate for Year 3 - Year 6
• ANSWER sheets!
• colour coordinated question and answer sheets so you can locate the answers with ease.
• MY FAVOURITE: for those students who whizz through the work (we’ve all got 1!), there is an “extra time” question each day.
• EXTENSION question is included in every day — these questions are generally open ended, low floor, high ceiling tasks, so students can attempt the question and feel successful, whilst others can take it to another level where they feel comfortable.

This resource is a beautiful way to formatively assess during this crazy time, establishing next steps is easy, for example... if the majority of students get Question 6 incorrect, it’s obvious that more time needs to be spend on lesser than and greater than symbols.

Ways to use this resource:

• start your day with a daily 10 minute warm up
• commence your maths lesson, using a timer (students record their time to try and improve each challenge)
• electronically project this onto the board, post in your Google Classroom or email daily challenge to students!
• Ask students to submit or send their results, so you can establish “where to next?” in your teaching and learning journey!
