Curriculum Map Template {Middle & High School Humanities}

Having clearly mapped out units for the school year is critical in my practice, but I never quite found the right map to match my style and personality as a teacher. This curriculum map was designed by me, at the time, a 10-year veteran teacher, who decided to quit her comfortable job and take a new job closer to home. I created this map to help me navigate two brand new courses (English 1 and English 3) with the language, goals, and through processes that I felt comfortable with.

You may find this map has language that you and/or your school doesn't use. At this time, the product is not editable, but I do have plans for a future, more involved (paid) product that will have more editing capabilities, a terminology glossary, examples, and more. For now, this is a freebie and I hope it can help you!

When designing the map, I had a few important things in mind:
1. Backward planning. You'll see that the assessments are a HUGE part of this map and they are what I need to have decided on long before I start writing individual lessons.
2. Personal Journaling. You'll see at the bottom of each page I've included some self-challenges. These are things that I want to keep in mind during the unit, no matter how chaotic and hectic things get!
3. Vocabulary. Teaching content related vocabulary is critical for me as an English teacher. I use a whole lot of tools to teach this, but mainly it's my Vocabulary Workbook Bell Ringers that I use each unit with new words.
