HOW TO USE:
POSTERS:
- These posters and slides will allow you to diversify your teaching, even if you're short on time!
- They make the PERFECT bulletin board and can be used year after year. I recommend printing and laminating for durability.
SLIDES:
- Just 10-15 minutes a day can and will make a difference in your students' understanding. Broaden their horizons and go beyond the traditional teaching of the same 5 or so figures!
- You'll save immense planning time by using the slides, not to mention the incredible conversations among your students! Everything you need is included. READ BELOW:
- SLIDE 1 - Vote! Pique student interest by showing an actual image of the person of the day. Take a class vote and tally the number of students familiar/unfamiliar with the person.
- SLIDE 2 - Learn! Students will be introduced to the person by reading a summary and also learn more by viewing (provided) YouTube video(s). **PLEASE view the video(s) ahead of time to determine if it will suffice for your learners.**
- SLIDE 3 - Analyze! A quote said by the person is included for analysis. Considerations are also included to help guide student thinking. **Best suited for upper elementary grades 3-5, but can easily be deleted if not appropriate for your learners**
- SLIDE 4 - Quiz & Collaborate! Students can test their memory by trying to fill in the blanks with simple words from the summary on SLIDE 2. A question particular to the person of the day is included for discussion.
- SLIDE 5 - Check & Collaborate! You can reveal the answers to SLIDE 4 here. Another opportunity to collaborate is included; students will turn and tell a partner 1 thing they've learned about the person of the day
QUOTE POSTERS:
- These are meant to be used as a companion resource & complement to my Hispanic Heritage Month biography posters.
- Display these posters to expose your students to inspirational quotes from influential Hispanic Americans in the past AND present.
- You can use the posters as an accompanying resource to your Hispanic Heritage Month teaching or use these posters alone.
RESEARCH TEMPLATES:
- These make the perfect bulletin board and culminating activity!
- FIRST: Students choose a figure to research, then compile their research. There are pointers for students on the scaffolded version (see PREVIEW).
- NEXT: Students will fill in their research using either the blank or scaffolded versions.
- THEN: It is up to you ultimately if you want to have students hang them in the hallway or on a bulletin board. If you choose to do this, you should have students cut out the excess white areas around the scroll.
- LAST: Students can cut out and paste onto construction paper.
TASK CARDS:
- These task cards are meant to be a culminating activity. They're a great way to hold students accountable for their learning and evaluate their understanding!
- No more last-minute scrambling for a resource when the end of the unit is near!
TAKE NOTE:
- There are no set dates as to when resources will be added. If I add a new Cultural Heritage resource, it will be added to this bundle.
- As I add them to my store, those who purchase this bundle at its current price will receive all future resources FREE!
