What educators are saying

This was a great resource for my students after completing units on the different types of functions.
The activities were fully aligned with the standard I needed to review and the practice was excellent for the students.

Description

This comparing functions sort activity will allow students to demonstrate their understanding of linear, quadratic, and exponential functions. Students will sort tables, graphs, and equations to identify them between linear, quadratic, and exponential functions.

Four boards are included. Students sort tables, graphs, and equations individually on their corresponding boards. There are a set of 11 tables, 11 graphs, and 11 equations. Included are some tables, graphs, and equations that are neither linear, quadratic, or exponential functions. The last board is a mixture of 21 tables, graphs, and equations for students to sort. Please see preview.

Included:

  • A pdf with a link to make a copy of the Interactive Google Slides™ for your own Google Drive™
  • A printable version in COLOR and B&W for students to sort and categorize.
  • Answer key

Digital Slides Version:

Go paperless with this interactive digital slides comparing functions sort activity.

There are four slides included.

  • Slide One: Students identify tables as linear, quadratic, and exponential functions.
  • Slide Two: Students identify graphs as linear, quadratic, and exponential functions.
  • Slide Three: Students identify equations as linear, quadratic, and exponential functions.
  • Slide Four: Students identify tables, graphs, and equations as linear, quadratic, and exponential functions.

For each slide, students are to drag and drop each tile to their appropriate category (linear, quadratic, exponential). Tiles that are neither should be left off the board.

This digital sort activity will save you time from printing, cutting, and laminating. Now, remote/virtual learners can enjoy being interactive even at home, independently at their own pace.

Print Version:

Students sort and categorize the tiles and place them in their appropriate box (linear, quadratic, or exponential) on the board. Students can be assigned to categorize all the tables, all the graphs, or all the equations individually. Alternatively, students can be challenged and assigned a mixture of tiles (tables, graphs, and equations) to be categorized all at once.

Important Information:

*You do not need Google Classroom™ to use this activity. If using Google Slides™, students will need a Google™ account. However, you can easily save, download, and assign the file as a PowerPoint™.

*Students will need to be in edit mode (not presentation mode) so the activity can be interactive.
