What educators are saying

I wanted to use the mini series in my classroom but I did not have any pre-prepared activities to accompany it. This was quick and served its purpose. Kids were engaged and it ensured they paid attention.

    Description

Based upon the critically-acclaimed Chernobyl miniseries from HBO, this video guide accompanies all 5 episodes of the 5 part drama.  The film is a painstakingly accurate account of the worst nuclear accident in human history. This can be used in a physics class for topics of nuclear chemistry, world history class for historical discussions of the accident and the Soviet Union during the cold war, environmental science class for the effects of the accident on the environment, or a biology class discussion of the effects of radioactivity on humans. It includes a summary of the characters, video guide questions with an answer key, a list of some key terms, as well as pre- and post- viewing discussion questions.  These .docx files are editable to remove questions that may not be pertinent to your class. My students were enthralled by this miniseries. Your students will LOVE this!

The final installment of my 5 part movie guide series includes additional discussion questions as well as 2 additional resources. The first activity guides student research comparing Chernobyl with the 2011 Fukushima accident. The second is an activity that has students map out an "exclusion zone" at a reactor site in their home country and assessing its impacts.

Also see my movie guide for Three Identical Strangers- the fascinating account of triplets separated at birth and reunited in their 20’s.  A riveting real-life examination of the nature vs nurture debate. A must see! https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Three-Identical-Strangers-Interrupted-Film-Guide-and-Worksheet-with-Answers-4338684
