Branches of Government Social Studies Digital Escape Room - Digital Learning

Your class has taken a trip to Washington D.C. to visit our nation's capital and learn about the Branches of Government. In the digital escape room, you somehow get separated from your class. To get back to your friends and teacher, you have to travel to the different buildings of our Branches of Government. While doing this, you have to solve a series of puzzles, quizzes, and read passages to break open the locks.

Digital EDUcational Escape Rooms are very similar to scavenger hunts. They involve students working in teams to use clues to crack multiple locks in a set amount of time. Digital Escapes apply learning in a fun and engaging way. This escape requires students to use a Google Form™ instead of actual locked boxes.

• There's NO PREP! Teachers just share the Google Sites link provided.

ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:

• Intro scenario and directions to the breakout
• Lock #1 Students will watch an EdPuzzle video and answer the questions posted during the video.
• Lock #2 Students will click on the photo of the Supreme Court Building. They will read passages about the 3 branches of government.
• Lock #3 Students will click on the American flag and read information about the Constitution.
• Lock #4 Students click on the White House. They will answer questions listed on a Google Sheet. As they answer questions the cells will turn a color for the color lock.
• Lock #5 Students will solve an Online Word Search. One of the words is a clue.
• Lock #6 Google Map activity - Students are given hints to locate the secret place.
• Google Form™ for codes to locks – Students will need to write their answers on a sheet of paper so they can put all of the answers in at one time.
• Reflection (students will be forced to make a copy of the form)
• I provided a graphic organizer that can be printed or used in a Google Slides format. This graphic organizer is about leaders in our country.
