Back to School Digital Team Building Activity for Upper Elementary

Building classroom community is a cinch with this digital Powerpoint. In this team building icebreaker, students will share things about themselves in small groups. This will get your students talking and interacting from day one. They will learn about each other in a fun way.

This activity is a no-hassle Powerpoint presentation that comes with 25 questions slides with 6 questions per slide. That's a total of 150 different get-to-know you questions! There is also an editable blank slide that you can use to create more questions of your own.

In this activity, every student in each group will have a die. The teacher will project one slide on the board. Each student will roll their die. The students in each group will go around the group reading and answering the question that corresponds with the number they rolled. After about 2 minutes, the teacher will change the slide and the class will roll again and share about the new questions. Do as many slides as you choose. You could do them all in one sitting, or spread it out over the entire back-to-school week, or use anytime.

There is no correct way to use the slides...do what is best for you and your class. The best part is the fun that students have learning about their classmates and beginning to build those important classroom relationships. Students will enjoy finding things they have in common with others in the class. From day one, they will begin to form bonds, leading to friendships that will develop over the school year.

You could extend student learning by using the editable slide to write questions about academic topics throughout the year. Think about using it for writing questions about a novel you are reading as a class. What about different math vocabulary or problems? Could you use it to review science or social studies concepts? This is very adaptable to any content area throughout the year. This roll-n-talk game can be for any subject area you choose. The sky is the limit!
