This is the thirteenth lesson in our 18-week full-semester course - American Music History.

Our American Music History Course explores the timeline of American music in the context of American history as students gain an appreciation for American music and a contextual understanding of our diverse cultural history.

In Lesson 13 - Southern Rock, students explore the post-civil rights era of the 1970s, learn about the outlaws of country music, and examine the contradictions inherent in Southern Rock.

This is a content-rich lesson that engages students as they develop an understanding of American music and cultural history. I have taught this course in person in a middle school setting and the online version of this course has been utilized by teachers and high school students in several public charter schools in California and homeschoolers. Students love this course!
