What educators are saying

I teach allisions with reading the outsiders. I was looking to revamp my lesson. Things in this did just that.

Description

This packet takes students step by step through the concept of Allusions. It begins by building background through the use of a clip featuring the phrase "These are not the droids you are looking for":

https://youtu.be/ihyjXd2C-E8

Students then view two additional clips from other movies where that precise segment is alluded to.

The lesson continues by providing students literary examples of allusions and challenges them to identify the piece of popular literature or Pop Culture that the allusion comes from. Examples include: Hunger Games, Pinnochio, Wizard of Oz, Despicable Me, Romeo & Juliet.

An extension activity is provided whereby students can listen to and view lyrics to a song that have MANY literary allusions for students to highlight and identify.
